Innsbruck, 20. Mai 2006

The traditional football tournament for the occupants was arranged on Saturday the 20th May by the Österreichische Studentenförderungsstiftung.This has already been the 27th competition.

For the first time the tournament has taken place in Innsbruck. About 250 students from all of Austria took part in it. The competing teams, 5 consisting of women and 12 of men, coming from Vienna, Graz, Klagenfurt and Innsbruck had lots of fun although they were very ambitious.

The tournament took place on a bright sunny day under the professional direction of the former FCTirol player Andreas Spielmann. One of the highlights was the visit of the two Olympic champions in tobogganing in 2006 Andreas & Wolfgang Linger. The two likeable sportsmen signed a lot of autographs and spurred the players of the final round to show peak performance.

After a very exciting, all Styrian, final play of the men, the “Schubertheim” won the cup with a result of 4:1 against the students home “Hafnerriegel”. The women’s contest was won by the team „Wiener Teuferln“ that was sent by the students home “Schäffergasse” in Vienna.

In the evening the winners were honoured and afterwards everybody partied until morning to the sounds of a band and with free drinks. Due to the perfect organisation by Franz Micheler (dormitory administrator Tirolerheim/Innsbruck) and his team and the support of many sponsors the whole event was a great success. Very tired but happy the teams returned to their city on Sunday. The memories of this event won’t be forgotten too soon. We already are looking forward to meeting you all again next year.
