Usually, you will be notified 2 to 6 months before your desired contract start date. The timing depends on the semester you applied for: responses for the winter semester usually come faster, while summer semester notifications can take a bit longer.<\/p>\n<p>Last-minute offers are only possible if someone cancels.<\/p>\n\n<h3>I need a room in a residence in one year's time. Can I register now?<\/h3>\n<p>Yeesssssssss, you can register at any time! The earlier you sign up, the better your chances of getting a dorm spot. Once you are registered, you will be on the waiting list, and we will contact you by email if a place becomes available.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Is there something available now so that I can move in right away?<\/h3>\n<p>If there are available spots, you can find them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.home4students.at\/en\/vacancy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. If your preferred dorm isn't on this list, there are unfortunately only waiting lists for those dorms. It's still worth registering, though, because there are always applicants who cancel at short notice.<\/p>\n<p>The information above only applies to spots that become available during the semester or that are currently free. If you are looking for a spot for the upcoming semester, just register through our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.home4students.at\/en\/registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online form<\/a>. This way, you'll be on our list and will be notified as soon as a room becomes available. As always: the earlier you register, the better.<\/p>\n\n<h3>How can I register?<\/h3>\n<p>You can register through our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.home4students.at\/en\/registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online form<\/a>. Don't worry, the registration is free of charge and non-binding.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What is a housing unit?<\/h3>\n<p>In short: it's a shared accomodation in a student residence. You have your own room and share the bathroom and toilette, and sometimes the kitchen with your flatmates. Usually, there are two, three, or four of you in a unit. Sounds good, right?<\/p>\n\n<h3>I did register for a room in a housing unit. Who is going to be my roomate(s)?<\/h3>\n<p>We understand that you'd like to know this in advance, but room assignments can change up until move-in day, for example due to last-minute cancellation. Please understand that for privacy reasons we cannot provide this information beforehand. Sorry!<\/p>\n\n<h3>Will my registration also be valid for the following months?<\/h3>\n<p>Your registration is always only valid for the month you chose. This means you will be on the waiting list for that exact date. Please note: if it doesn't work out and the chosen month passes, your registraion will not be carried over to other months.<\/p>\n<p>If other months could also work for you, please register separately for each month using the same email address each time.<\/p>\n<p>If you are registering for February, March, August, or September, you can indicate in your registration that the month before or after would also be suitable for you.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What are the criteria for getting a room at Home4students?<\/h3>\n<p>Scholarship holders are given priority, as are students between 18 and 26 years old. During the summer months, interns, summer school participants, and the like are also very welcome.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Do I have to register several times if I am interested in all of the residences?<\/h3>\n<p>Nope. As long as the residences are in the same city where you are (planning on) studying, you can note at the time of registration that you would like to be considered for all of the residences.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Can I register for a single room?<\/h3>\n<p>Of course! When registering, you can indicate that you only want a single room.<\/p>\n<p>However, this room type is very popular and is primarily offered to current residents. If you are open to other room types, your chances of being offered a dorm spot increase. You can let us know about any room change requests after you move in, and they will be considered when a spot becomes available.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What needs to be paid when booking the student dormitory?<\/h3>\n<p>When signing the contract, a one-time processing fee of \u20ac 100,- will be charged.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a security deposit must be paid, equal to two month's rent. For example: the deposit for a bed in a double room costing \u20ac 325,- per month is \u20ac 650,- while the deposit for a single room costing \u20ac 499,- per month is \u20ac 998,-.<\/p>\n\n<h3>When is my room finally booked?<\/h3>\n<p>Your dorm spot is confirmed once you have paid the \u20ac 100,- processng fee and submitted the required documents. You will also receive a booking confirmation from us, so you know everything is in order.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What do I have to pay before I move-in?<\/h3>\n<p>Before your move-in (contract start), the security deposit (= 2 month's accomodation fee) and your accomodation fee for the firm month must be paid.<\/p>\n\n<h3>When do I receive the signed copy of the agreement?<\/h3>\n<p>If needed, you can receive your contract by email. Just let us know if you would like us to send it.<\/p>\n\n<h3>How can I cancel a room that is already reserved?<\/h3>\n<p>You can cancel your dorm spot by email before the contract starts. The deadlines and cancellation fees are listed in your contract. Feel free to contact our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.home4students.at\/en\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reservation team<\/a>, if you are unsure or have any questions.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Can I move into a double room or shared flat with a person of my choice?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes you can! Just enter the name of the person you want to move in with in the designated field when registering. Please note: your future flatmate must also list your name and register for the same room type in the same dormitory.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Do I have to re-register every year or is the contract unlimited?<\/h3>\n<p>The contract is always valid until the end of the academic year. If everything works out, you can of course extend it. Information about contract extensions is sent out in advance via newsletter and posted on the notice board.<\/p>\n<p>As a first-year student, you can also get a 2-year contract for the very beginning.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Is there an age limit?<\/h3>\n<p>Students between the ages of 18 and 26 are given priority. Are you older? No problem, register anyway! If there are enough available spots, we will get in touch with an offer.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Can I move into the dorms with a child?<\/h3>\n<p>Our dorms a primarily intended for students without children. If this date doesn't work for you, you can arrange an alternative date outside the main move-in periods.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure or have lost the mail, please get in touch with your dorm manager promptly - ideally before booking, e.g. your flight or train ticket. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n<h3>There is damage in my room that has been there before I moved in. What should I do?<\/h3>\n<p>Of course, we do our best to hand over your room in perfect condition. If you do notice anything, you will receive an inventory checklist when you move in, where you can immediately note any issues. Otherwise, the room is considered to be accepted as fault-free, and any repair costs or similar will be deducted from your deposit when you move out. So it's better to check carefully upfront than to argue later.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What do I have to bring?<\/h3>\n<p>Curiosity, a good mood, yourself \ud83d\ude09and an ID so that we know that you are you..<\/p>\n<p>You also have to bring your own blanket, pillow, bet sheets, dishes and so on. If that is not possible for you, you can pre-order these items through our partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.home4students.at\/en\/unistarter-moving-in-has-never-been-easier\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unistarter<\/a>. Please read them carefully and keep them. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your dorm manager. You can also check out our dorm statute, which forms the basis of the house rules, on our website under the dorms section. But we have already picked out the most importanct questions for you here:<\/p>\n\n<h3>Is my friend allowed to stay the night?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes. Depending on the type of room you are staying in, please ask permission from your roommate(s). Once this has been arranged, please notify the dorm manager, as overnight guests are generally only permitted with the manager's approval.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Are pets allowed?<\/h3>\n<p>For various reasons this is unfortunately very seldom the case. Please contact us for this matter.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What are the general house rules (curfew, night time, ...)?<\/h3>\n<p>Each dorm has its own dorm statute and house rules, which you can find on our community page.<\/p>\n<p>Quite hours are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. It's a good idea to stick to them out of consideration for your roommates and neighbours. In general, putting yourself in other people's shoes is always helpful and a life lesson. Waste disposal, kitchen, and room cleaning are handled differently in each dorm. Otherwise, we can only say: put yourself in the shoes of others and please leave the rooms tidy.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"e2506-e21 x-acc-item\"><button id=\"tab-e2506-e21\" class=\"x-acc-header\" role=\"button\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"panel-e2506-e21\" data-x-toggle=\"collapse\" data-x-toggleable=\"e2506-e21\"><span class=\"x-acc-header-content\"><span class=\"x-acc-header-indicator\">&#x25b8;<\/span><span class=\"x-acc-header-text\">Damages<\/span><\/span><\/button><div id=\"panel-e2506-e21\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-labelledby=\"tab-e2506-e21\" data-x-toggleable=\"e2506-e21\" data-x-toggle-collapse=\"1\" class=\"x-collapsed\"><div class=\"x-acc-content\"><div class=\"x-text x-content e2506-e22 m1xm-a\"><h3>Who do I contact if something in the dorm is not working (light bulb, power outage, stuck door, ..)?<\/h3>\n<p>In the event of necessary repairs or technical disruptions, please use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.home4students.at\/en\/login\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">web portal<\/a>. This way the damage reports reach our technicians directly and they can fix the problem as fast as possible.<\/p>\n<p>You will get the log in data once you have moved in.<\/p>\n\n<h3>What do I do in case of a technical emergency?<\/h3>\n<p>Don't panic! Every Home4students dorm has an emergency number. You can find this information on the notice boards in the dorm, in your move-in information, and on our community page. Please call the appropriate emergency contact, they will guide you on what to do next. Be sure to save the number in your phone right away.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Can I repair the damage I caused?<\/h3>\n<p>Even if you are a die-hard DIYer, that is unfortunately not possible. We have to ask our technicians or an external company to repair the damage in order to maintain the quality standards of Home4students.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Are my personal items insured in the residence?<\/h3>\n<p>No, unfortunately our insurance does not cover damages to your property or damages caused by you. Even in a student dorm, it's worth having your own household insurance, including liability coverage. Check whether you are covered under your parents' insurance. Austrian household insurance often covers children living at their study location. Another option is to see if your damage is covered by the \u00d6H insurance.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Someone broke into my room. What do I have to do now?<\/h3>\n<p>Stay calm and contact both the police and your dorm's emergency number immediately. Also inform your dorm manager. What should I do?<\/h3>\n<p>As most of the time in life, the answer is: it depends!<\/p>\n<p>For important reasons in accordance with the student residence act (\u00a7 12(3) last sentence), you can terminate your contract at the end of the following calender month. If you just want leave us *sniff*, you can always terminate your contract at the end of the semester with a two-month notice period. All deadlines and details can be found in your contract.<\/p>\n<p>Your notice of termination must be submitted in writing. An email is perfectly sufficient.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"e2506-e27 x-acc-item\"><button id=\"tab-e2506-e27\" class=\"x-acc-header\" role=\"button\" type=\"button\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"panel-e2506-e27\" data-x-toggle=\"collapse\" data-x-toggleable=\"e2506-e27\"><span class=\"x-acc-header-content\"><span class=\"x-acc-header-indicator\">&#x25b8;<\/span><span class=\"x-acc-header-text\">Moving Out<\/span><\/span><\/button><div id=\"panel-e2506-e27\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-labelledby=\"tab-e2506-e27\" data-x-toggleable=\"e2506-e27\" data-x-toggle-collapse=\"1\" class=\"x-collapsed\"><div class=\"x-acc-content\"><div class=\"x-text x-content e2506-e28 m1xm-a\"><h3>What do I have to consider when I plan to move out?<\/h3>\n\n<ol>\n \t<li>Follow the move-out instructions from the dorm manager and arrange a move-out date.<\/li>\n \t<li>Say your goodbyes to everyone.<\/li>\n \t<li>Hand over your room empty and broom-clean<\/li>\n \t<li>Move out *sniff*<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Do I have to clean my room before moving out?<\/h3>\n<p>We don't mind if you clean your room. \ud83d\ude0aIt just needs to be empty and left broom-clean. The cost for the final cleaning of your room (currently starting at \u20ac 50,-) will be automatically deducted from your deposit.<\/p>\n\n<h3>Is the deposit money re-transferred automatically?<\/h3>\n<p>Together with the move-out information, you will receive a form where you can provide us with the bank account of your choice.
